What is Mead?
Mead is an ancient, fermented beverage, with honey as its heart and soul. Though honey remains the
core ingredient, mead also embraces grains like barley and oats, as well as a variety of spices and
fruits. This rich and diverse tradition has traveled through the ages, finding its place across many
ancient cultures; from Egypt to Greece, Mesopotamia to Germania, and, of course, the Nordic lands.
To call it simply "honey wine" fails to capture its depth, variety, and connection to heritage.
As one of the oldest forms of fermented drink, mead’s origins trace back to the earliest civilizations.
Despite its timeless legacy, mead today remains less renowned than beer or wine, due to the labor of
harvesting honey, a process more demanding than growing hops or grapes. Yet, in Viking culture,
mead was more than a drink; it was a symbol of ritual, celebration, and connection to the gods. At
Ragnarok Meads, we honor this connection, pouring forth the spirit of Norse tradition with every drop.

EVENT PLANNING
1. TASTINGS
We offer standard tasting services all over the central coast, from San Miguel to San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande. Minimal fee is based upon number of individuals attending at a rate of $20 per person plus a $50 convienience fee.
What to expect:
i. A variety of all available flavors.
ii. We provide glasses for tasting.
iii. An available selection of items including, but not limited to: sample boxes, 16oz-12oz bottles, and t-shirts.
